There have been some interesting articles about China lately. Here is a round up of a few of my favorites.
Awesome Commercial – We’ll start off with this hilarious Chinese commercial for 7up. It was brought to my attention by Brandon over at studymorechinese.com. Don’t worry it has english and Chinese subtitles. (And sorry for those in China, it is a Youtube video so fire up your VPN.)

There is a “tragic” part two you can watch here.
More Fake Goods – Counterfeit and fake goods are a well known phenomenon in China. (I have Louis Vuitton Sweater and Prada bag for example, both purchased for less than $15.) But the ‘fakes’ industry goes far beyond just luxury goods. In the past I’ve talked about fake eggs, and now apparently, there is fake toilet paper. Wantchinatimes.com had a recent article about the big market for fake toilet paper. I guess fake is the wrong word here, counterfeit would be more appropriate. After all, it is toilet paper and you can still wipe your ass with it, but the quality is sub-par and according to the article, “contained visible chaff,” whatever that means. If I didn’t have enough to worry about with all the fake stuff, now I gotta inspect my toilet paper too?!
Drool worthy photos – Fiona over at Life on Nanchang Lu did a blog post recently on the food of the Xinjiang region, including the bread. Xinjiang (or Muslim) bread is some of the best bread in China, but it’s quite scarce to find in my little town. Someday we’ll get our butts over to Xinjiang and taste the fresh stuff for ourselves. Until then I’ll just look at her amazing photos and drool. Seriously, check them out.
Being a Star in China – I think more than just a few foreigners have delusions of grandeur about getting on TV in China. On echinacities.com they have an article about what it takes to get on TV in China. Their advice includes being able to speak passable Chinese, do something unique and it helps if you can sing. I guess I don’t really fit these three types yet, but theirs always time! Check out the whole article to get some more tips about how to get a gig on China TV.
