It’s Ramses and Moo-Cow!!!!
Okay, maybe it’s not really Moo-Cow and Ramses, but rather two of our super cute, and talented, students dressed up in the costumes they made to look like Moo-Cow and Ramses. For our new book, The Fuzzy Philosopher, we are making a book trailer using student actors and student helpers. Pictured here is Jeanne and Vivian two of the dedicated students who have been making the costumes.
I should emphasis here that they are doing all the work. Ryan is coordinating it all, and checking that everything is getting done, but the students are the ones doing the work. They decided that to buy white cloth would be best and to dye it the many colors we needed (for the robes of ancient Greece). They have been coming over to our house 2-3 nights this week and staying till the wee hours (okay, 10:30 pm which is late to me) to make sure everything got dyed. They also begged a home ec teacher to let them use the sewing machines for the afternoon to make hemming go much quicker.
These students are all english majors, and don’t have much experience in costume making or sewing, but they have done a great job! This is the first time anyone has created life-sized costumes for the entire MCFC gang and the results are great. (As you can see from the pic.)
Ramses and Moo-Cow, along with the rest of the characters, sprung from the imagination of my mind and the pen of Ryan. So to see them now walking and talking, even if they have cute chinese girl faces, makes me very happy. It’s amazing how your creations can evolve and change over time both with and without your help, and seeing these girls play around in the costumes made me very happy for the latest chapter of the MCFC gang.
Next week we will begin filming the book trailer and in only 9 short days you too can own The Fuzzy Philosopher! You can pre-order (via paypal) by clicking here, or order from your favorite indy bookstore or your favorite soul-sucking giant corporation that doesn’t care about you, just your money. (No-not Walmart, I’m talking about amazon.)
Now let me leave you with another cute show of Ramses and Moo-Cow:
And in case you forget what they look like, here is a picture of the real Ramses and Moo-Cow (with F.W.) walking on the Great Wall of China during their first trip to China.
