How to Use a Squat Toilet–Hilarious Video

Here is a hilarious new video about how to use a squat toilet. (VPN alert–Youtube video.)

As you can imagine, using a squat toilet is a frequent topic of conversation with foreigners in China. You can occasionally find a western toilet, in a fancy hotel of new movie theatre, but for the most part, it’s all squatters here.
As a girl, I have to squat all the time. I also make sure to bring toilet paper with me everywhere because of the lack in most places and to be honest, after all this time, I don’t even think about it.
But some of the other foreign teachers here, the male foreign teachers, avoid it as much as possible. I can squat no problem (in the official heels down way in the video) but the guy here can’t. So they have come up with hilarious ways to overcome their deficiencies.
One of my super-freaky and weird co-worker (yes I know you’re reading this) puts down some paper on the ground and then puts his hand on that to steady himself. Personally, there is no way I would ever do that. But he swears by his ‘6-ply’ method.
There are a number of other stories I have heard over the years, of westerners using squatters, but maybe some of you are eating as you are reading this and I don’t want to gross you out.
So just watch the video and enjoy. When I got to Taiwan soon I’m going to look for these two guys! They seem like a lot of fun.
