I’m plugging away at my day job with only 3 more days left before I’m done for good. I haven’t had time to write a new entry in a few days, but I have had time to read some good ones. Here are a few of my favorite that I thought I would share.
Location Independent Career Basics (atwisebread.com)- This used to be called “work from home” but maybe that sounds too much like a scam? It seems like the new buzzword is “location independence.” Well, however you say it I think being able to work either from home or while traveling is a good thing and way better than going to an office everyday.
What Type of Backpacker Are You? (at nomadicmatt.com) – This is a funny post about the different types of backpackers that you encounter while traveling. I think that Ryan and I could easily be classified at “The Couple.” Even when we were young and just out of college we avoided the drinkers. While I do like meeting and hanging out with other travelers, I have never been into the party scene.
Parker Lewis Can’t Lose (at blogcritic.org) – My favorite 90’s show finally out on DVD? Coolness. I know I’ve talked a lot about getting rid of stuff, but when the first season of Parker Lewis came out on DVD last month I knew I had to buy it. This show shaped my early high school years and even now I quote the show (though I’ve long since forgotten the quotes come from this show). I’ve been watching an episode or so a day and I can happily say that while it is very 90’s in style (frightening so) it is just as good as I remember.
Tackling ESL Myths (at lostlaowei.com) – These are five common myths about teaching English in China and I confess I’m guilty at perpetrating #1. I know a little Chinese, and plan to learn a whole lot more, but I didn’t think it was necessary. Lesson learned.
I just read that blog about ESL teaching in China (FYI, in the US, the term is now ELL–English Language Learner, but it’s a whole different concept). Very enlightening. I found the comments more interesting than the actual article. I wish you guys luck!
Yeah, I agree with Erick. The comments on that post were VERY interesting and helpful. Although, I think on that type of blog, posts are just a jumping off point for a discussion. I’ll have to read the backpacker one now to see what being “the couple” means.
