Time for more Chinese related videos! It seems like a day doesn’t go by without some viral video or picture being spread around Facebook, Weibo or Weixin. So I thought I’d share a few of the especially good ones.
I know a lot of my readers are outside of China, so maybe you haven’t heard about or seen these yet. So Enjoy! And a heads up, all these videos are on YouTube so if you’re in China, time to fire up the VPN.
This first video is about 2 British guys that performed on China’s Got Talent. This is a bit controversial with foreigners (and probably Chinese for the same reasons). They do a parody of What Does the Panda Say, and truth is it’s funny, but they aren’t amazing.
This is just like the American version of show and you need to have some real talent to continue on to the next round. But they are successful despite not being so good.
Some foreigners say that these guys were entertaining, bantering with the judges and giving everyone a good time so they deserved what they got. Others say it was just a joke, they did it for publicity for their own TV show and they just continued perpetuating the stereotype of foreigners as “Dancing monkeys.”
Anyway, you ca make up your own mind. One thing is indisputable, they get the crowd going.
This video, of a foreigner dancing all around China in 100 days, is a huge viral hit in China. Nothing controversial about this one, just happy dancing. According to one website, which translates online comments into English a lot of chinese people were saying, “why are foreigners always so happy?”
And here’s another parody video, this time food related (so you know I like it). A song sung to the tune of Ice, Ice Baby. It’s Rice, Rice Baby, about the food in China.
And here’s a reason that I am getting out of China right now. I cannot express the hell that is traveling in China during spring festival. The Chinese Ministry of Transportation says that this year will be the busiest ever with 3.63 BILLION trips expected this year. An increase of 200 million more than last year. It’s hard to put numbers like that in respective but basically just imagine being surrounded by dozens of people for every moment, and being grateful for it (cause it means your going home).
This video is a woman who was so happy she was able to buy a ticket after waiting all night in line. She freaked out with joy, or perhaps something more as after doing her little dance she started stripping. The police said that maybe the pressures of trying to go home gave her a bit too much emotional strain.
Sorry for some reason I had trouble embedding this video. So click on over here to watch it.
