Somethings you Can Count on

There are a few things you can count on being a teacher. During mid-autumn festival you get a lot of mooncakes (basically small little fruit cakes) and during Dragon Boat Festival, which took place yesterday, you get zongzi. Zongzi is sticky rice with a filling (meat, egg yolk or bean is most common) all wrapped up in bamboo leaves and tied together with a string. These things are dense and even I can’t handle more than 2 at a sitting. And yet, I get piles from my students every year.
This is this years haul. Looks like I wont need to worry about meals for awhile.

As I rode the slick new escalators up the side of the mountain in the Xiamen botanical Gardens, I hated myself a little. Why was I here, supporting the destruction and abuse of this gorgeous natural mountain? I mean, is there anything lazier than taking an escalator up a mountain?

Just curious, how much does it cost/piece/kg?
I only like the red bean ones. It’s been close to 30 years since I had it last time, as I usually don’t go to china during this period of the year.

I’ve actually never bought one so I don’t know for sure. But I do know they are quite cheap, just a couple of RMB.
I’ve been totally enjoying these for breakfast everyday. Two of this sticky rice things fills me up for hours and they are super easy to heat up. I like the meat/salty ones better than the red bean ones. (But I had a red bean one with sugar on it the other day and that was totally yummy.)
