Where I live in China, the pollution isn’t so bad. I’m not in a major city and the campus is surrounded by green, tree-filled mountains which helps to clean the air. Sometimes, I can even see stars at night.
But one trip to Inner Mongolia reminded me what I’m missing. Despite being close to Beijing (about 7 hours by bus) the grasslands of Inner Mongolia might as well be a whole ‘nother planet. The blue skies were amazing and the air was fresh and clear. Here are some pictures of our day spent in the isolated grasslands of Inner Mongolia. Montana’s nickname might be Big Sky Country, but I think Inner Mongolia might give them a run for their money.
